Earthquake hardly topples Tokyo
An earthquake was centered in Tokyo Japan
The magnitude was 5.2
Date-TIME:5:49 A.M. September 11th
Hypo center Depth:56.327
Plate Tectonic Setting: Japan sits on a volcanic junction of Tectonic plates, prone to earthquakes. The area where the earthquake happened is a convergent boundary where the philippine plate plunges below the Eurasian plate. Stress along the boundaries result in an earthquake.

EARTHQUAKE!! 140km from Bitung, Sulawesi Utara, Indonesia, where there are no people...
Location: 140km from Bitung Indonesia
Magnitude=6.3m
Date-time: UTC time: Wednesday, September 16, 2015 07:40 AM
Hypocenter depth: 55km
Plate Tectonic Setting: The root of the problem is that Sumatrais at the boundary between two tectonic plates. The ocean floor southwest of Sumatra is part of the Indian/Australian Plate while the other islands of Indonesia and Thailand are part of the Eurasian plate. There is a subduction zone on the indo australian plate sinking under the Eurasian plate right under Indonesia. Indonesia is located at the junction of four plates, Australian, Philippine, Eurasia and Pacific. Any shifts can cause an earthquake.

No devestating effects. Indonesia has the most volcanoes in the world.

Crazy killer quake in coquimbo
A harsh earthquake hit earlier today off the coast of Chile in a town called Coquimbo.
The killer quake had a devastating magnitude of 8.3
The event began at about 8:00 CET
The earthquake had a hypo-center depth of 25 kilometers
Chile naturally sits on an arc of volcanoes and fault lines circling the Pacific Ocean known as the "ring of fire" . This area always experiences frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. This area specifically is on a destructive convergent plate boundary, where convection currents drive the Nazca plate against the South american plate.
Effects: More than ten so far have been found dead. Tsunami watches were issued thousands of miles away including in Hawaii and California. La Serena, a city north of coquimbo, is destroyed completely reduced to rubble.
